Five Western Sydney Catholic students top the state in HSC courses
Bede Polding College Windsor, Gilroy Catholic College Castle Hill, Cerdon College Merrylands, Catherine McAuley Westmead and St Columba’s Catholic College Springwood are celebrating the achievements of their students who have been awarded First-in-Course at a HSC awards ceremony hosted by the Deputy Premier and Education Minister The Hon Prue Car MP on Tuesday 17 December at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

ABW Winners The Australian Business Week winning team were awarded their medallions today. Their hotel "Snowfall Suites" was the winning hotel. Great team work from: Annalise, Angelina A, Kobe, Madeleine, Kate, Lisa, Angelina B, RioMariz, Charlise, Jessica, Atok, Angelina D, Alyssa, Claudia, Wai Kay, Emily, Selena, Alyssa-Mary, Aria and their teacher mentor - Mr Anthony Hanna. NYSF Presentation at The Rotary Club of Drummoyne Last Week Celine and Amber were special guests at the Rotary Club of Drummoyne meeting. The girls were invited to introduce themselves and to speak about NYSF, The National Youth Science Forum. The girls have been fortunate to gain sponsorship from the club for this program, which will take place in Canberra during the 2025 January holidays. The girls represented themselves, their families and their school very well, speaking eloquently about their aspirations for the program and their future, engaging with the audience and impressing many of the Rotary members. Congratulations to both Amber and Celine on their efforts!

Year 8 Stem Challenge Over the last few weeks, students in year 8 have been working in groups to build a bionic hand using materials such as straws, string and tape. Each science class had worked through a number of challenges to select which group would represent them in the final challenge. Students had to use their hand to pick up balls, elastic bands and perform some sign language, mimicking the functions of a real hand. Congratulations to all the students who participated in this engineering challenge, and in particular to all of our finalists and our challenge winners Gabriella, Jacinta and Sophie! Awesome effort!
