Each year, one Year 12 student in every Catholic secondary school in the Diocese of Parramatta is awarded the Bishop of Parramatta Award for Student Excellence.
This prestigious award is nominated by the school principal and recognises a student’s witness to their Catholic faith and outstanding contribution to the school community in areas such as academic excellence, sporting achievement, creative and performing arts, social justice, vocational education and community involvement.
This year’s outstanding students were recognised by Bishop Vincent Long OFM Conv at an event held at St Patrick’s Cathedral on Thursday 5 September, attended by more than 300 people, including parents, school representatives and local community leaders. Each award recipient was acknowledged with a medallion and certificate.
Bishop Vincent delivered a powerful reflection on excellence and the aims of Catholic education. He praised the award recipients for their hard work, discipline, dedication and commitment.
“The honour we bestow on them tonight recognises not only what they have done but also the positive attitude with which they have imbued their environments and relationships. These students have let the light of Christ shine through them. They have worked hard, with a sense of responsibility and commitment,” said Bishop Vincent.
Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese Executive Director, Jack De Groot congratulated the students, acknowledging all those who play a part in student success.
“Your achievements are a credit to you and your families, and a testament to the commitment and drive of your teachers as we endeavour in our vision to enrich the lives of our students through education grounded in excellence, inclusivity and Catholic tradition,” Jack said.

The Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary. Today, on the 12th of September, we celebrate the Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary. This day honours the Blessed Virgin Mary and her sacred name. We praise her name because she is the Mother of God, the holiest among all people, the Queen of Heaven and Earth, and the Mother of Mercy. PDSSSC Basketball On Friday September 6, our PDSSSC Junior and Intermediate basketball teams gave an outstanding performance, showcasing teamwork, tenacity, and true sportswomanship throughout the competition. With a mix of wins, draws, and hard-fought close losses, our students represented the school with pride and determination. Miss Parker and Mr Marjanovic couldn't be prouder of their efforts and are excited to continue developing their skills in the years ahead!

Year 9 Visual Design got the opportunity to work with street/mural artist Sam Absurd (@samabsurd) for an incursion as part of their Mural Design unit this semester. On Thursday they worked on character stylisation with fonts and graphics and learnt how to spray paint to create their bases and then on Friday they learnt how to use POSCA markers to illustrate on their surfaces. Students and Miss Sylaprany enjoyed it thoroughly and learnt a lot which they will apply to their own murals! Well done girls! 👩🎨 --

On Sunday 8 September, we will be celebrating the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We look on her as the Mother of God, but even more so as the disciple who can best offer us an example and model of Christian life. Mary, our good Mother, pray for us.

Medieval Day On Friday, Year 8 participated in Medieval Day. Presenters Ben (Jester) and Diana (Weapons) informed and entertained our students. They also learned about heraldry and family crests from their teachers. The girls dressed up in interesting medieval costumes. A fun day was had by all!

Peer Support 2024 Peer support is well underway, and our leaders are doing a fantastic job with the Year 7 students! Our current topic is "Working Through Conflict," where we engage in various scenarios to learn about resilience and coping strategies in challenging situations. National Computer Science School Challenge Congratulations to the 30 students from years 7-11 who, over the last five weeks, have completed the NCSS Challenge.
